Job Summary The successful candidate will assist with visual inspection of samples upon receipt (no leaks, no damage), dilution of samples to the volume/molarity needed for analysis on the quadrupole-ICPMS instrument, setting samples on the autosampler rack of the instrument, and starting/monitoring the instrument while concentrations are being measured. This work will take place in the Tissot lab. This is a part-time, term position. Essential Job Duties Cleaning of labware in preparation for experimental work. Sample reception and inspection; visual inspection of the samples upon receipt. Sample dilution for analysis on the quadrupole-ICPMS instrument. Concentration analysis of biological samples by mass spectrometry; starting and monitoring the instrument while concentrations are measured. Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Completed undergraduate coursework in STEM. A minimum of 2 months of work experience in a class 1000 clean laboratory. Familiarity with Q-ICPMS instruments for concentration analysis. Knowledge of the protocols used in clean laboratories to achieve low blanks. Skilled in the preparation of reagents at various concentrations, pipetting, and handling of corrosive and hazardous materials. Preferred Qualifications 1 year of work in a clean laboratory with protocols equivalent to those in place in the PI’s laboratory.
