Description
The Senior Dietitian is responsible for assessing the nutritional status of patients with digestive disorders and developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized nutrition care plans for patients referred to the Gastrointestinal (GI) Nutrition Program. As an expert-level clinician within a specialized area of nutrition practice, the Senior Dietitian provides advanced medical nutrition therapy and serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary Integrative Digestive Health team within the Division of Digestive Diseases.
Working collaboratively with Gastroenterologists, Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioners, and Integrative Digestive Health providers, the Senior Dietitian delivers evidence-based nutrition care, patient education, and counseling to support digestive health, weight management, and specialized nutrition needs. Services are provided through individual consultations, telehealth visits, group education classes, and support programs.
The Senior Dietitian also serves as a clinical resource for healthcare providers, patients, and staff; contributes to program development and quality improvement initiatives; and supports the evaluation of clinical operations and policies under the direction of the Nutrition Manager.
Salary Range: $98,616.24 – $130,124.16 /annually
Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Nutrition or Public Health
and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. - 5+ years prior experience with digestive
disorders - Completed an A.N.D. internship and be a
certified registered dietitian - Demonstrated
comprehensive knowledge and expertise of irritable bowel syndrome,
IBD, malabsorptive disorders, short bowel syndrome, protein losing
enteropathy, and motility disorders (such as partial bowel obstructions,
intestinal dysmotility, small intestine bacterial overgrowth, gastroparesis)
and other digestive diseases. - Demonstrated ability to perform a nutrition
based physical examination (NFPE) - Able to set priorities, to recognize emergency
situations and to take appropriate action. - Demonstrated ability to work independently with
physicians, nurses, and psychologists and follow through with all assignments. - Demonstrated
proficiency in motivation interviewing and behavioral change counseling experience. - Strong
skills in assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating the nutritional
and educational needs of participants. - Demonstrated skill to communicate effectively
with patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, front office, and
department personnel, both orally and in writing. - Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain
efficient patient flow in daily schedule - Demonstrated ability to maintain medical charts
and documentation.
Preferred
- Advanced training in IBD and surgery
- Demonstrated
experience with clinical research execution and/or program evaluation - Demonstrated experience with program development
