As a Senior Shooter/Producer at MotorTrend, you’ll play a critical role in capturing dynamic moments, shaping editorial narratives in real time, and producing visually engaging content across a wide range of automotive experiences.

Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Shoot dynamic automotive footage including reviews, tests, performance features, action driving, and cinematic B-roll across a variety of environments.
  • Direct on-camera talent and contributors during productions, building strong rapport to ensure smooth and effective on-location execution.
  • Identify key story beats in real time and shape editorial flow while productions are actively unfolding.
  • Edit video content using Adobe Premiere Pro, delivering polished and engaging final assets aligned with MotorTrend’s editorial standards.
  • Manage, organize, and prepare media assets and footage for post-production workflows and long-term archival needs.
  • Collaborate closely with MotorTrend writers, video hosts, photographers, and production teams to ensure seamless coordination across productions.
  • Scout locations, prep vehicles, and coordinate logistics to support efficient and successful shoots.
  • Represent MotorTrend at automotive events, press drives, manufacturer programs, and field productions as a professional brand ambassador.

Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)

  • 5+ years of experience in video production, shooting, editing, or a related media role.
  • Strong video production, camera operation, and editing skills with proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Experience capturing both static and moving vehicles in diverse shooting environments and conditions.
  • Ability to make sound independent editorial and creative decisions while working on location.
  • Passion for cars, automotive culture, and visually driven storytelling.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage media assets, workflows, and production logistics effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across editorial and production teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Radio/TV/Film, Media Production, or a related field preferred.
  • This role is based in El Segundo, CA.

The base salary range for this role is $84,660-$92,000. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
