WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Solutions Application Engineer serves as the technical interface between customers, sales, operations, and engineering teams. This role is responsible for understanding customer applications, translating customer needs into engineered solutions, and supporting products throughout the design and manufacturing process.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working directly with customers, solving complex technical challenges, and collaborating across multiple departments in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This position requires strong engineering fundamentals, proficiency in SolidWorks, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance customer expectations with manufacturing capabilities.

The Solutions Application Engineer will work closely with Sales, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Development teams to deliver innovative sealing solutions while providing technical leadership throughout the customer engagement process. Occasional travel to customer locations and company facilities is required.

 

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys interacting with customers and building technical relationships.
  • Can confidently discuss engineering concepts with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Is proficient in SolidWorks and mechanical design.
  • Understands manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Can work effectively across departments including Sales, Operations, Quality, and Engineering.
  • Thrives in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly.
  • Takes ownership of projects and follows them from concept through implementation.
  • Is willing to travel to customer sites to support technical discussions, troubleshooting, and business development activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers to understand application requirements and recommend technical solutions.
  • Develop designs, proposal drawings, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource during customer discussions, design reviews, and qualification activities.
  • Work closely with Sales to develop business opportunities and support customer visits.
  • Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet customer requirements.
  • Support DFM, MRB, product improvement, and root cause analysis activities.
  • Coordinate technical projects across multiple functions and locations.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to provide technical support and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of engineering standards and procedures.

 

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Material Science or Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Polymer Science or equivalent (required)
  • 5+ years experience working in specialized Industries/Markets. Working in Manufacturing environment as well as being able to communicate with customers on technical issues (required)
  • Understand the customer application and build application expertise
  • Proficient in Solidworks and/or AutoCad
  • Design and Develop sealing components
  • Understand engineering fundamentals and apply them to design process
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and GD&T
  • Use project management tools to lead assigned activities and projects.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $81,500 to $126,500 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is up to 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $89,650 to $139,150. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
