Description
The
Center for Community Outreach and Policy provides vision services to children
and adults in underserved communities throughout Los Angeles County and
surrounding areas. This position serves primarily as the driver for the UCLA
Mobile Eye Clinic (UMEC), with responsibility for operating and transporting
the CNG bus or electric box truck to assigned clinic location. The individual
will work under the supervision of the manager for the Center for Community
Outreach and Policy.
Salary
Range: $25.33 – $34.07 Hourly
Qualifications
Required:
- High
School Diploma - Ability
to maintain a California driver’s license. - Must
possess a valid California Driver’s License for the class of vehicles to be
operated (Class B with passenger and airbrake endorsement) and subject to
Calif. DMV pull notice system. - One
year of experience in the operation of automotive equipment; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience. - Skill
in driving and parking a 40-foot vehicle - Ability
to push, pull or carry 30 lbs. or more. - Skill
to operate computer to check email messages/requests and the internet. - Must
have no license restrictions other than for corrective lenses. - Ability
to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and in writing. Ability to
read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations. Skill to obtain or convey
clear information at various organizational levels. - Ability
to interact with people of various social, cultural, economic and educational
backgrounds in a friendly and effective manner. Ability to work as part of a
team and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with
colleagues. Interpersonal skills to maintain comfortable and cooperative
working relationships with patients, physicians and staff. - Ability
to work with medical students, undergrads, and volunteers. - Availability
to work weekends and evenings at health fairs, homeless shelters or other
events. Flexibility in adapting to new assignments. Ability to shift priorities
and adapt to change in wide variety of situations. - Ability
to work under minimal supervision. - Ability
to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions or work performed - Demonstrate
organizational skills to effectively complete duties/tasks independently and on
a timely basis.
Preferred:
- Basic
Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.
