We have an opening for either a Principal Systems Engineer or a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our qualified, diverse team. We are seeking a team member who wants to solve interesting, complex problems to help protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. This position is based out of Redondo Beach, CA.

As a Systems Engineer for the Ground Segment, you will be a part of a cross-functional agile scrum team with software developers and systems engineers. You will be a key stakeholder working with the software developers to ensure production is aligned to the design as specified in requirements. You will be a main contributor in decomposing required functionality using the architecture model and ensuring requirement linkage. You will be critical to ensuring test scripts are in line with the software verification plans to qualify the software for delivery. You will participate in DevOps between the software teams and the operations team to develop use cases and test plans for the end to end system tests. You will be the main point of contact for customer and internal stakeholders and participate in reviews and technical interchange meetings.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Systems Engineer level or a Senior Principal Systems Engineer level

Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience
  • Active Top Secret Clearance, and the ability to obtain Special Program Access

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in STEM with 7 years of relevant experience
  • Active Top Secret Clearance, and the ability to obtain Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Jira and Confluence for agile project management
  • Experience working on space systems development programs
  • Experience with Cameo tools for architecture modeling
  • Experience working with software development teams
  • Experience in Agile methodologies
  • Experience managing requirements and verification plans in IBM Rational DOORS

Salary Range: $101,400 USD – $152,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD – $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
